Dennis Quaid will be starring in a new comedy series, with the announcement today that “Merry Happy Whatever” received an eight-episode order from Netflix.
Quaid plays Don Quinn, a strong-willed patriarch who must balance the demands of his complicated family with the stress of the Christmas season when his youngest daughter comes home for the holidays with a new boyfriend.
Netflix noted that while the first season of the show takes place around Christmas, future seasons of “Merry Happy Whatever” might explore other holidays.
In addition to starring, Quaid is an executive producer on the series. Tucker Cawley is writer, showrunner and executive producer, and Pamela Fryman is director.
