A monster rollercoaster, said to be the world’s tallest, longest and fastest dive rollercoaster, will be opening this year at the Canada’s Wonderland theme park in Ontario, and you can get a sense of what a ride on it will be like by watching the video below.
“Prepare to be exhilarated by Yukon Striker’s epic journey at a height of 223 feet above the wilderness, and a 90-degree drop, 245 feet down into an underwater mining shaft,” the theme park says in promotional material included with the video. “With speeds reaching 130 km/h, soar through four dynamic inversions, including a complete 360-degree loop — the only one of its kind for a dive coaster.”
The U.K. publication The Mirror notes that the Yukon Striker will reach top speeds of 80mph and will offer four inversions, where riders are turned upside down and then returned to right side up.
“At the top of the drop, you’ll be held for three seconds over the 90-degree drop before you drop down into the underwater tunnel, and there’ll even be a complete 360-degree loop for an extra adrenaline rush,” The Mirror reports. “The whole ride will take 3 minutes 25 seconds as you cover all 3,625 feet of the track.”
The report notes: “It’s not the world’s fastest rollercoaster (that accolade goes to the Formula Rossa in Abu Dhabi’s Ferrari World) — but it is the fastest dive rollercoaster, aka a ride where there’s a straight vertical drop which sees riders facing down.”
