Two well-known actresses, Felicity Huffman (“Desperate Housewives”) and Lori Loughlin (“Fuller House”), were among those “arrested this morning by police for their involvement in a bribery scheme to get their children into elite colleges,” reports Deadline.

The story reports: “The two actors were taken into custody with 11 other LA locals today as a scathing indictment was unsealed today in federal court in Boston. … The actors and the others are expected to appear in court … this afternoon on charges [of] conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services fraud.

“Among 33 parents and more than 10 others under indictment, the charges could see the ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Fuller House’ actors behind bars for up to five years.”

The 33 parents were accused of paying “millions in bribes to coaches” at eight schools: UCLA, USC, Stanford, Yale, Wake Forest, Georgetown, the University of Texas and the University of San Diego. The bribes were reportedly paid “so their children could gain admission as recruited athletes — even if they weren’t actually athletes.”

Notes USA Today: “Others charged included three people who organized the scams, two ACT and SAT exam administrators, one exam proctor, and one college administrator. Parents who face conspiracy charges include heads of private and public companies, securities and real state investors, a famous fashion designer and the chairman of a global law firm.”

  1. Who cares!
This happens all the time. My mother did the same thing. SO WHAT.
This is all you have to report on??
So some rich spoiled kids go to good colleges, -they’ll probably fail out.
    Report on something newsworthy.
Putting people in jail for wanting their kids to go to good schools, REALLY??!!!

  2. Adela,
Really?! Wow, you are jaded. I’m astonished at your email. Integrity should be first and foremost for university admission consideration. I hope the penalties are significant for this found guilty.

  3. Adela,

Your review shows your stupidity and/or lack of knowledge of the facts. Did your parents pay someone to take the test for you and fraudulently represent you as an athlete? Do you even really know the facts in this case or understand them? NO. That is why your parents had to bribe officials.

  4. Rich kids getting spoiled more than others is not news. Rich kids not earning good grades in high school is appalling. These same wealthy parents should have paid for tutors, special classes and preparation courses. That’s where the money should have went and it’s not against the law. You had the money to get your kids there the honest way. If they didn’t get there through all that what’s wrong with community college? It’s so you can say your kid goes to some prestigious college to your rich social groups and that’s just gross. Do you really think people who socialized with your dumb kid didn’t notice they were dumb? Do you think your dumb kids past teachers wouldn’t notice the admission into a good school.?Oh that’s right you don’t care we notice you just care your rich friends notice. I’ve noticed rich kids in good schools with the iq of a ball of hair forever. Trump is a perfect example. Every time rich people get busted an angel gets its wings. Welcome to the real world!!!

  5. What these parents have done is wrong. Not so sure that the FBI needed to show up at Felicity Huffman’s with guns drawn, but there does need to be accountability.
