CBS has booked a special prime-time broadcast for one of its late-night programs, setting aside an hour on Monday, May 20, for “The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special 2019.” In addition to the popular “Carpool Karaoke” segment, the show will feature host James Corden’s favorite moments from the past year on “The Late Late Show.”
The special will air from 10-11 p.m., and will include an all-new “Carpool Karaoke” with Celine Dion.
It will be the fifth prime-time special for “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”
“The 2016 and 2017 editions of ‘The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special’ both earned Emmy Awards for Outstanding Variety Special,” CBS notes in its announcement. “The 2018 edition earned an additional Emmy nomination for Outstanding Variety Special. Following the popularity of the ‘Paul McCartney Carpool Karaoke,’ which originally aired during ‘The Late Late Show’ in June 2018, CBS broadcast a one hour primetime special, ‘Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live from Liverpool,’ in August 2018.”
In addition to the popular “Carpool Karaoke” segments, Corden’s show features the segments “Crosswalk the Musical,” “Drop the Mic” and “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,” among others.
“The show holds the YouTube record for the most-watched late night clip with ‘Adele Carpool Karaoke,’ which has 195 million views,” CBS notes.
