One of the top executives at Netflix is headed out the door. The giant streaming service announced today that Chief Marketing Officer Kelly Bennett is stepping down after seven years on the job.

Kelly, who joined Netflix in 2012, has played a key role in the company’s growth from 26 million subscribers to more than 139 million paid members worldwide today.

In a statement, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said: “Kelly Bennett has been absolutely transformational for us as we expanded our member base in the US and globally, and particularly as we transitioned into being a leader in original series and films. He has been a source of inspiration both inside Netflix and in presenting our brand to the world, and we are thankful for his enormous contributions.”

Variety notes that Netflix has begun looking for a new CMO.

“Bennett said he will remain with the company for an interim transition period and is committed to staying at Netflix through the end of the year if necessary,” Variety reports.

  1. Let us hope that the quality of original films will improve. You are making films. Constant chatter amongst neurotic females is boring. Quality music is needed. Computer generated music does not cut it. Cheap digital camera must have a cameraman who knows the real filming from home movies.
