Late-Night Host Fires Back at Jay Leno

Nothing like a little uncivility between a current late-night host and a late-night legend. After Jay Leno sounded off on NBC’s “Today” show about the current state of late-night television — you can see Leno’s comments by clicking here — one of the current crop of late-night hosts, HBO’s John Oliver, fired back.

Oliver noted on Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight” that Leno’s call for civility in late-night appears to overlook his own track record — including his material on Monica Lewinsky. As part of a feature on public shaming, Oliver played a few old Leno clips to remind viewers that Leno’s treatment of the Lewinsky scandal on Leno’s “Tonight Show” was less than civil.
