A man who competed in 2014 along with his wife on the long-running reality series “The Amazing Race” has died. The New York Post’s Page Six reports that Jim Raman died Tuesday morning in South Carolina. He was 42.
Raman was an orthodontist in Irmo, S.C., in the Columbia area. He and his wife, Misti, who is also a dentist, finished second on the CBS competition series, where they were billed as “the Married Dentists.”
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher is quoted saying in a statement obtained by WIS TV: “Nothing suspicious or criminal is involved with the case and out of compassion and respect for family, my office will not comment on it.”
However, TheState.com reports that Raman’s death was being investigated by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
“After responding to a Lakefront Court home at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, a death investigation was started by the sheriff’s department, public information officer Capt. Adam Myrick told The State,” the website reports.
Raman was reportedly found dead at the scene.
The Ramans’ dental office, Irmo Smiles, put out a statement Thursday saying: “Irmo Smiles has suffered a tragic loss this week. It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing for Dr. Jim Raman. As our staff and the family prepare for Dr. Raman’s celebration of life, please join us in praying for peace and comfort during this difficult time. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we give Dr. Misti Raman time to grieve the loss of her loving husband.”
