A cable channel that already has a strong presence in the entertainment news space has plans in the works to expand that presence. E! announced it will add three hours of entertainment news programming daily to its weekday lineup.

Launching in 2020, the expansion will build on the network’s existing news franchises, including “E! News,” “Daily Pop” and “Nightly Pop,” and will introduce a variety of new formats and personalities across the additional daytime hours.

Tammy Filler, a veteran of NBC’s “Today,” will join E! as EVP & Editor-In-Chief, E! News, to lead creative development and production for current franchises and new formats under the E! News umbrella across all platforms, the network announced.

“As EVP & Publisher, E! News and Digital, John Najarian will work closely with Filler as he oversees News’ overall business and product expansion efforts, and operations,” E! added in its announcement. “In addition, Najarian will now oversee the digital strategy for the broader E! network.”

E! President Adam Stotsky commented: “Entertainment news is at the core of the E! brand and our unparalleled, multi-platform coverage sets us apart from other networks. Tammy and John are the right leadership team as we expand our footprint and double down on our news programming. E! News is the leading entertainment news source for millennial women, and we are excited to offer more hours dedicated to breaking news, trending stories, and edgy, comedic commentary.”
