A comedy series that had its debut earlier this year will be returning for a second season. Showtime announced today that “Black Monday” has been picked up for a 10-episode second season, due to premiere in 2020.
The series stars Don Cheadle, Andrew Rannells and Regina Hall. The story centers on a fictional group of people who caused the “Black Monday” stock market crash of Oct. 19, 1987.
“‘Black Monday’ mines big comedy from the greed, the style, the music, and the excess of the ’80s, but it’s also sneaky smart in its social commentary about that era — and indirectly, our current era as well,” said Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.
The series is a co-production of Showtime and Sony Pictures Television.
