A former regular on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” who went on to become a big movie star after leaving “SNL” is about to make his first return to the show as guest host.
NBC announced that Adam Sandler will guest-host the show on May 4. Shawn Mendes will be the musical guest that night.
Sandler joined the show as a writer in 1990 and was a cast member from 1991-95. He is known for creating a number of memorable characters, impressions and musical moments, including “The Hanukkah Song.”
“We are happy to welcome Adam back to ‘SNL’ in what is sure to be a special night,” said executive producer Lorne Michaels.
Sandler’s latest comedy special, “100% Fresh,” is currently available on Netflix and his next film, “Murder Mystery,” premieres on the streaming platform later this year.
Shawn Mendes will be making his second appearance as musical guest on “SNL.”
