In the latest twist in a story that has had more than its share of twists, attorneys for “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett have been hit with a lawsuit filed by two brothers who say they helped Smollett stage a racist and homophobic attack against himself.

The AP reports that the Osundairo brothers are accusing the attorneys of defamation by continuing to say publicly that the brothers carried out an actual bigoted attack against Smollett,

“Abimbola ‘Abel’ Osundairo and Olabinjo ‘Ola’ Osundairo said in a joint statement issued after their lawsuit was filed in federal court in Chicago that Smollett’s legal team has spread false accusations that have hurt their reputations and undermined their career prospects,” the AP reports.

The report quotes the statement from the brothers saying: “We have sat back and watched lie after lie being fabricated about us in the media only so one big lie can continue to have life. These lies are destroying our character and reputation in our personal and professional lives.”

The AP adds: “In their lawsuit, the Osundairos contend that even after prosecutors dropped the charges against Smollett despite saying they believed they could prove the attack was a hoax, Smollett’s attorneys kept saying in interviews that the Chicago-born brothers ‘led a criminally homophobic, racist and violent attack against Mr. Smollett.’”

The lawsuit reportedly names celebrity attorney Mark Geragos, lawyer Tina Glandian and Geragos’ Los Angeles-based law firm as defendants.

Geragos and Glandian issued a joint statement calling the lawsuit “ridiculous” and “a desperate attempt” by the brothers “to stay relevant and further profit from an attack they admit they perpetrated.”

  1. The great city of Chicago deserves to stick it to Jussie and his “crew”.

  2. AMEN to that. Hoaxing racial attacks should never be allowed or accepted. It diminishes any attacks of a racial nature that actually happen.

  3. This could be used as an episode of Chicago PD
