A recent Academy Award winner will be the next James Bond villain, with the news that Rami Malek has signed on for the 25th Bond movie.
Malek, who broke out as the lead hacker in the USA series “Mr. Robot,” won his first Oscar earlier this year for his performance as Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
The untitled Bond film, which will be set in Jamaica, will mark Daniel Craig’s fifth and final appearance as 007.
“Craig, Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, and director Cary Fukunaga on Thursday launched the film from the Caribbean island nation where Ian Fleming wrote all of his Bond novels,” the AP reports.
Malek reportedly sent a video message saying he will make sure Bond “will not have an easy ride of it” in the film.
