A broadcast drama series is looking for a new showrunner after the show’s creator and current showrunner stepped down. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Stacy McKee is leaving ABC’s sophomore drama “Station 19,” a “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff focusing on firefighters.

Production on the show’s second season has reportedly wrapped, with a new showrunner expected to be named for a potential season three.

“Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that McKee — who had been with ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ since its debut — opted to exit after her overall deal with producers ABC Studios expired,” THR reports. “Sources note that McKee is ready to move on in a new direction after spending 15 years within Shondaland.”

The report notes that the series has been a “stable performer” during season two, but remains on the bubble for a season three renewal.

“It is expected back as ABC looks to keep its TGIT-branded Thursday night lineup in place for the upcoming 2019-20 broadcast season,” THR reports, noting that a decision is expected in the next couple of weeks.
