A top ABC executive said Tuesday that a controversy over an expletive-filled rant won’t cost one of the network’s stars her job.

The AP reports that ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke told a teleconference today that Constance Wu’s job playing the mom on “Fresh Off the Boat” is intact.

The news comes after Wu, who also starred in the 2018 film “Crazy Rich Asians,” posted a graphic complaint online last week after news of “Fresh Off the Boat’s” renewal was announced.

“Wu has apologized for what she called ‘insensitive’ comments and said she loves the sitcom,” the AP reports. “She said she was temporarily frustrated that it would keep her from working on a passion project.”

Burke reportedly told the teleconference today that no thought was given to recasting Wu’s role.

“Burke said she’s choosing to believe Wu’s most recent comment, that she’s happy to return to ‘Fresh Off the Boat,'” the AP reports. “But pitching ABC’s lineup to advertisers later Tuesday, the network executive couldn’t resist a dig. ‘Fresh Off the Boat’ will air Friday nights, Burke said, ‘still starring Constance Wu.’”

The sitcom has been renewed for a sixth season.
