Canceled ABC Series May Be ‘Uncanceled’

ABC is rethinking a recent decision it made to cancel a prime-time series. A source at the network confirms that ABC is considering ordering a second season of the drama series “Whiskey Cavalier” after all, TVLine reports.

The network canceled the Scott Foley-Lauren Cohan series earlier this month, but now may reverse that decision and order a new season that would premiere at midseason, the story reports.

“Talks between ABC and producer Warner Bros. Television are ongoing, per insiders, with one source putting the odds of the show returning at 50/50,” TVLine reports. “The studio has also put feelers out to a number of streaming outlets.”

The report adds: “‘Whiskey Cavalier’ EP Bill Lawrence stoked the rescue fires Wednesday ahead of the show’s finale, urging his followers to watch the episode and, by doing so, hopefully ‘make this a “season” finale and not a “series” finale.’”

The show’s fans have been especially vocal since news broke of its cancellation, with TVLine noting that its original reporting on the show’s cancellation attracted more than 450 comments.

Wednesday’s episode reportedly had 3.8 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, an 11-week high.
