‘Game of Thrones’ Fans Petition HBO — Wait, They Want HBO to Do What??!!?

A number of fans of the wildly successful HBO fantasy series “Game of Thrones” aren’t exactly fans of what’s been going on with the show during its eighth and final season, and they’ve launched a Change.org petition urging HBO to remake the season with “competent writers.”

“David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on,” the petition says. “This series deserves a final season that makes sense.”

When we checked in late Wednesday afternoon, the petition had close to 150,000 people signed on.

HBO has said season eight of “Game of Thrones” is averaging 43 million total viewers, including DVR playback, streaming and repeat telecasts.

EW notes that the show’s final season is “the biggest and most logistically complex season of television ever conceived,” calling the suggestion that HBO might actually follow through on the petition “ludicrous.”

HBO wasn’t commenting.
