In an arrangement that draws on Disney’s recent 20th Century Fox acquisition, the ABC Studios-produced upcoming “Black-ish” spinoff “Mixed-ish” has tapped 20th Television-based Karin Gist as showrunner, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

“Gist is the first showrunner from the formerly Fox-owned studio to land a job overseeing a series at Disney,” THR reports, adding: “Gist most recently served as showrunner on the past two seasons of 20th TV’s since-canceled ‘Empire’ spinoff, ‘Star.’ Gist’s hiring on the ‘Black-ish’ prequel series reunites her with executive producers Kenya Barris and Tracee Ellis Ross after the trio previously worked together on ‘Girlfriends.'”

ABC Studios, 20th Television and Fox 21 are all unified now under the Disney Television Studios banner.
