The No. 1 show in prime time pushed its streak to eight years at the top of the rankings, according to an announcement today from NBC applauding the ratings achievements of its “Sunday Night Football.”

With the broadcast television season ending tonight, NBC declared that “Sunday Night Football” will end the season once again as the No. 1 show in prime time in viewership and household rating.

The show’s eight-year streak, spanning the 2011-2012 season through 2018-2019, puts it alone at the top of a list that finds “American Idol” in second with six years in a row at No. 1 (2005-2006 through 2010-2011). “The Cosby Show” and “All in the Family” follow with five consecutive years each at No. 1, then comes “Gunsmoke” with four consecutive years starting in 1957.
