Tribute to John Singleton Set for Tonight

A block of programming saluting director and producer John Singleton, who died Monday at age 51 following a stroke, will run tonight, May 1, on TV One. The channel announced that it will televise a special marathon of its signature series “Unsung Hollywood” in celebration of Singleton’s life and legacy.

Beginning at 8 p.m., TV One will show three themed episodes of “Unsung Hollywood,” focusing on Richard Roundtree, Tupac Shakur and the film “Baby Boy.” The episodes feature commentary from Singleton as he discusses his connections to Hollywood luminaries and film projects highlighted in the series. Singleton directed the remake of Roundtree’s career-defining film “Shaft,” directed Tupac in his film “Poetic Justice” and directed the film “Baby Boy.”
