An executive who joined Amazon Studios in 2015 and has been the company’s head of marketing and distribution is stepping down. Variety reports that Bob Berney is exiting as his four-year contract runs out.
His last day will reportedly be Friday.
“During his time at Amazon, the film veteran oversaw a number of successful films including ‘Manchester by the Sea’ — which became the first streamer film nominated for best picture — as well as other critically acclaimed films ‘The Big Sick,’ ‘Cold War’ and ‘The Salesman,'” Variety notes.
Matt Newman, who is one of the studio’s feature film co-heads, is likely to take over as the company looks to fill the position, Variety adds.
