A screenwriter who is the son of a noted film director has been accused by eight women of a series of sexual assaults and other offenses. The Daily Beast published a piece today detailing allegations against Max Landis, the son of John Landis.

Max Landis is known for writing the script for the 2012 film “Chronicle,” along with the 2017 movie “Bright,” and for producing the Syfy series “Channel Zero.” Allegations of sexual assault have been swirling around him for more than a decade.

Five women are identified by pseudonyms in The Daily Beast report, while two spoke on the record. An eighth woman said she filed a complaint about Landis with police in 2008 alleging that he had sexually assaulted her. That case was eventually dropped.

“Three of the women alleged that Landis choked them,” Variety reports. “One woman alleged that Landis held her down and raped her, and would deliberately humiliate her because wanted to have sex with her while she was crying. Two more women described accounts of alleged sexual misconduct on movie sets.”
