CBS has decided to cancel a series based on a police procedural by popular novelist James Patterson, reports Variety. The series is “Instinct,” based on Patterson’s “Murder Games.”

Nate Nickolai for Variety writes that the show features Alan Cumming “as CBS’ first gay protagonist, a psychology professor and author who begins profiling murderers in New York City after a serial killer uses his own book as inspiration for killings.”

Season two of “Instinct” began airing on June 30th. The last episode of season two – which is now also the show’s finale, is scheduled to air on Sunday, Aug. 25th.

Series co-star Bojana Novakovic, who plays Lizzie on “Instinct,” took to Twitter to express her disappointment with the cancellation, Variety says. “WELL THIS SUCKS BALLS,” she tweeted, adding, “But when one door closes another… actually f— that. This sucks balls. Love to all our fans and the most incredible cast and crew. Thank you all for an incredible two years.”

  1. She’s right. It’s one of the few shows I have liked every character and the writing and acting is great. I don’t know what criteria they used to cancel it, but it is getting harder and harder to find really good shows that last very long. Basically, if it appeals to dumb and dumber America, it will last.

Not a good thing to have on your resume for your next acting gig.

  3. Maybe viewers are not as ready for such overt gay characters as CBS thinks. Don’t jam it down our throats, so to speak.

  4. Why?

  5. I think its a wonderful show and should be renewed.

  6. Never heard of it.

  7. This is a Great show. It’s too bad that CBS contributed to its cancellation.

It is hard to get ratings when you are in a fight with AT&T and pull CBS shows off the platform for 3.5 weeks in 13-15 large markets.

Rating are King and CBS caused them to fail.
