A drama series running on cable has fallen victim to the cancellation ax after two seasons. Variety reports that Syfy pulled the plug on “Krypton.”
The show’s second season ran earlier this year. Season one is up on the streaming service DC Universe, with season two headed there next year.
“According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, studio Warner Horizon Television plans to shop the series to other outlets,” Variety notes.
“’Krypton,’ set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s titular home planet, follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) as a young man faced with saving his home planet or letting it be destroyed to restore the fate of his future grandson,” Variety notes.
The series also starred Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Aaron Pierre, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Blake Ritson, Ian McElhinney, Shaun Sipos and Colin Salmon.
The report notes that Syfy also opted not to move ahead with a planned “Lobo” spinoff.
I hate when shows get cancelled but end on a cliffhanger. This cancellation decision should’ve been made earlier so a true ending could’ve been done.
What surprises me about this is that they don’t look to see how loyal the viewer base is. With the loyal fan-base this show has, why farm it out when it could be a big draw to get fans who would not have tried your soon to be launched streaming service. Check with Netflix about Lucifer.
SYFY does it again! They start something and never give it time to see if they have a fan base. I’m surprised Battle Star Galactica lasted as long as it did. I’m giving up on this network.
