One of the major cast members on NBC’s late-night sketch comedy staple “Saturday Night Live” is leaving the show. Leslie Jones will not be back for the show’s upcoming 45th season, according to media reports.
Jones has been with “SNL” since 2014, receiving two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on the show. She is also nominated this year for an Emmy as a co-writer on the song “The Upper East Side,” which was featured on the show. (See clip below.)
Recent speculation about a possible cast departure has centered on Kate McKinnon, whose contract with the show expired in May. But McKinnon has reportedly extended her contract for at least one more year.
Season 45 is set to premiere Sept. 28, with Woody Harrelson set to host and Billie Eilish on board as musical guest.
