A man who is allegedly seen on a video clip violently punching comedian Andy Dick was arrested in New Orleans, The New York Post’s Page Six reports.

David Hale, 46, was booked on charges of second-degree battery and simple battery, The Post reports.

Dick said he was knocked unconscious for 15 minutes by the attack, which occurred early Saturday as Dick, who had just finished performing at the One Eyed Jacks nightclub in the French Quarter, was mingling with fans and posing for photos.

The video clip appears to show Dick being knocked to the ground by the sudden attack. You can click on the link above to The New York Post to see the clip.

WVUE-TV quotes Robert Couvillion, Dick’s booking agent, giving his account of the incident.

“We walk out the club to Uber and were saying bye to my friends. Andy was standing in front of the club when the guy cold-cocked him while he was talking to someone,” Couvillion said. “Andy’s head fell into the wall, then fell into the motorcycle, then cracked on the cement.”

Hale’s bond was set at $15,000 and he was ordered to stay away from Dick, WVUE notes.

“After Hale was arrested, court documents show he told police the Dick grabbed his genitals after his show at One Eyed Jacks and then winked at him. Hale stated this made him lose control and hit the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground,” WVUE adds. “However, representatives for Dick adamantly deny Hale’s claims.”

Documents reportedly show that Hale is also accused of punching another man who ran after Hale and grabbed his shoulder as he was fleeing the scene, according to WVUE.

Footage of the alleged attack can also be seen at the WVUE link above as part of a report by the station.
