A new daytime talk show is in the process of being put together for former child actress and rom-com star Drew Barrymore, with Variety reporting that the “Santa Clarita Diet” star is shooting a pilot for the show this week in New York for CBS Television Distribution.
Barrymore, whose feature film credits include the Adam Sandler movie “50 First Dates,” is one of the executive producers of the pilot. Variety notes that details about the hourlong show are sketchy.
The report cites sources saying no showrunner is formally attached to the project at this point.
“Barrymore circled a talk show deal with Warner Bros.’ Telepictures in 2016, but a pilot never came to fruition, in part because of a lukewarm response from prospective station groups at the time,” Variety reports. “The new regime at CBS’ syndication arm is said to have high hopes for the show and faith in Barrymore’s appeal as a daytime TV personality.”
