Inside the Secret Series From the High-Profile Dating App Tinder

Sep 18, 2019  •  Post A Comment

The popular and controversial Tinder dating app will be releasing an original series that has been kept under wraps during its development, with Variety reporting that the “choose-your-own-adventure-style” series is coming in early October.

The report, which cites numerous individuals close to the project, notes that the release marks Tinder’s first outing as a content financier and distributor.

“The series is set against an impending apocalypse, one of the insiders noted, and asks the question ‘Who would you spend your last night alive with?'” Variety reports. “The show will upload directly to the Tinder app, and users will be able to swipe right or left (the service’s basic function of approving or denying a potential love match) and advance the plot as they see fit.”

Variety adds: “The untitled six-episode project just wrapped production in Mexico City, and was directed by sought-after newbie Karena Evans. The helmer and actress has directed numerous music videos for rapper Drake, including the viral hit ‘In My Feelings’ and the star-studded ‘Nice For What.’ She also directed the pilot episode of the Starz stripper drama ‘P-Valley.’”

  1. Raya solves the privacy problem through careful curation, as well as its interface: Try to screenshot someone’s profile, and you’ll get an alert threatening to kick you off the network if the photo makes it online. (This makes sense, given that careful control of one’s social-media brand is a prerequisite for admission.) Most of the half-dozen Raya members I interviewed were skittish about publicly discussing the app, and preferred to remain anonymous. Raya’s creators did not respond to requests for comment, and neither did representatives for any of the public figures whose names are cited in this story.
