NBC announced a “big get” Monday for the upcoming 17th season of its singing competition “The Voice,” revealing that Taylor Swift will be what the network calls the “Mega Mentor” for the show.

The 10-time Grammy Award winner will join coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani to mentor the artists and prepare each team for the Knockout Rounds, which will begin airing in late October, the network said.

“During the Knockout Rounds, the artists will be paired with a teammate and select their own songs to perform individually. Taylor will be on hand to work with all four coaches and their teams to provide feedback, suggestions and praise as the artists prepare for their performance,” NBC said in today’s announcement, adding: “The coaches alone will choose the winner, and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach.”

  1. So disappointed in NBC… And can’t imagine what the four coaches (an amazing line-up of musical talent) think about their new “Mega Mentor” who’s lost her early catalog, bombed on a live award show performance, and is soon to be humiliated in Cats.
