A new project moving forward at CBS comes from the prolific TV creator who’s behind the hits “The Big Bang Theory,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Young Sheldon,” “Mike & Molly” and “Dharma & Greg,” among others.  Deadline reports that the new Chuck Lorre project, “The United States of Al,” received a pilot production commitment from the network.

In addition to Lorre, the multicamera comedy comes from fellow “Big Bang Theory” executive producers David Goetsch and Maria Ferrari, TV personality and scholar of religious studies Reza Aslan and Warner Bros. TV.

“Written by Goetsch and Ferrari, ‘The United States of Al’ is a comedy about the friendship between Riley, a Marine combat veteran struggling to readjust to civilian life in Ohio, and Awalmir (Al), the Afghan interpreter who served with his unit and has just arrived to start a new life in America,” Deadline reports.

Goetsch and Ferrari will executive produce with Lorre, Aslan and Mahyad Tousi. Warner Bros. Television is producing along with Chuck Lorre Productions.
