CNN staffers were reportedly shocked this week when the voice of Morgan Freeman was heard narrating the opening video at the WarnerMedia presentation to investors. Variety reports that a number of CNN employees were caught off guard by the company’s hiring of Freeman, who became the focus last year of allegations of harassment and inappropriate behavior.

Variety quotes one CNN employee saying after Tuesday’s presentation: “It’s disgusting. So many of us were scratching our heads in shock, wondering how something like this could even happen.”

A former CNN employee is quoted saying: “Of all the millions of people they could have hired, why him?”

The report notes that no CNN staffers would talk to the publication on the record out of fear of reprisal.

Freeman has strongly denied the allegations, which surfaced in a CNN report by An Phung and Chloe Melas in May 2018.
