An actor who starred in the 1982 Steven Spielberg feature film “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence. The AP reports that Henry Thomas, who starred as a child in the Spielberg movie, was arrested in Oregon.

“The 48-year-old Thomas was booked into the Washington County Jail and faces the misdemeanor charge after police said they found him Monday in a stationary car,” the AP reports. “Thomas played Elliott, the young boy who befriends an alien in the classic 1982 movie. He has also appeared in ‘Gangs of New York’ and ‘Legends of the Fall.’”

The story cites a KGW report saying officers at the Tualatin Police Department indicated they received a call about a car that was not moving.

“Police say officers arrived, found Thomas and took him into custody after a field sobriety test,” the AP reports.

Thomas, a two-time Golden Globe nominee for “E.T.” and the 1995 TV movie “Indictment: The McMartin Trial,” has continued his acting career, both on the big screen and on television. He currently stars on the Netflix series “The Haunting of Hill House.”
