It’s already one of the most talked-about films of the year, and after the prohibition of reporters asking any questions on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of “Joker” two weeks ago, the filmmakers are finally opening up about the movie.

Released Oct. 4, the Joaquin Phoenix movie, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and won that event’s Golden Lion, has already topped half a billion dollars in worldwide box office. On Sunday night, director, producer and writer Todd Phillips and co-writer Scott Silver took the stage to discuss the movie with Craig Mazin at a packed Writers Guild Theater screening of the film in Beverly Hills.

TVWeek Open Mic writer Hillary Atkin was on hand and filed a full report — please click here for all the details.

  1. The Joker is an excellent film that depicts one direction a mentally ill person can go. And shows that fall in a moving way. When I was driving home past all of the homeless people on the street It made me have a new respect for the issues many of those people have to deal with.
