World Series Opens to Lower Ratings

Tuesday’s opening game of the World Series, in which the Washington Nationals edged the Houston Astros 5-4, was well down in viewership from the opener a year ago, according to media reports.

“While the game might have been a thriller, it ended up well below last year’s opener between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox,” Variety reports. “Tuesday’s game on Fox garnered around 12.2 million, down from the 13.8 million who tuned in last year.”

The report adds that Tuesday’s viewership figure represents a five-year ratings low for the opening game of a World Series.

  1. Baseball has to find a way to shorten the game. It is already slow and Tuesday the excitement didn’t start until I was in bed fast asleep.
