A drama series that was a spinoff of a long-running cable drama has been canceled after just one season. Variety reports that USA Network pulled the plug on the “Suits” spinoff “Pearson.”

The series featured Gina Torres in a reprise of her “Suits” role as Jessica Pearson, who went into politics in Chicago after being disbarred. The show ran the last episode in its 10-episode season in September.

“Suits,” which had a nine-season run on USA, also televised its final episode in September.

Along with Torres, “Pearson” starred Morgan Spector, Bethany Joy Lenz, Simon Kassianides, Eli Goree, Isabel Arraiza and Chantel Riley.

“Despite the popularity of ‘Suits,’ ‘Pearson’ was never able to find a wide audience, ranking among USA’s lowest-rated originals,” Variety notes. “It also failed to find much love from critics, with the show launching to mixed reviews when it debuted back in July.”
