NBC is working on a politically themed series with a number of big players both in the cast and behind the scenes. The network announced today that Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Holly Hunter is joining the untitled comedy series and will star opposite Ted Danson.

Hunter will play a liberal councilwoman who battles the new Los Angeles mayor, played by Danson. The project is written and executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock.

In a statement, Fey and Carlock said: “We’re so excited to write for Holly Hunter. We’re both huge fans and will have to find a way to ‘act normal’ around her. To have Holly and Ted in the same show, it’s now officially an embarrassment of riches.”

“Saturday Night Live” veteran Bobby Moynihan was previously announced in the cast as Jayden, the interim director of communications in the newly elected mayor’s office.
