David Tennant, whose performance in the title role in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 2008 production of “Hamlet” won critical acclaim, has reprised the role for a TV adaption that will be shown as part of PBS’ “Great Performances” series in 2010, the Associated Press says.

Tennant is most likely best known as the latest "Dr. Who" in that same titled British series.

Patrick Stewart will also appear in this PBS version of  "Hamlet" as Claudius/Ghost.

This fall, Tennant will begin hosting “Masterpiece Contemporary” for PBS as well.

  1. Nerd correction: he’s “the Doctor,’ not eponymously “Dr. Who.”
