FX announced today that it is renewing a breakout freshman drama series, Deadline.com reports. With just four episodes having aired, the Dylan McDermott-Connie Britton series "American Horror Story" was picked up for a second season, the story reports.

The show, a creation of "Glee" writers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, will come back for 13 more episodes.

Commenting on the renewal, FX President John Landgraf said: “It’s one thing to have the ambition and guts to reinvent a genre in a way that makes it captivatingly fresh for a broad audience — it’s something else entirely to have the craft to back that ambition up.”
