Fans of Fox’s "The Simpsons" will get a chance to write a scene for the show, reports Deadline.com. The producers are encouraging viewers to write their version of an opening "couch gag” as part of a contest sponsored by the network and show.

The winning joke will be animated and used in the season finale in May 2013. Submissions must be posted to thesimpsons.com/couchgag by Nov. 15.

Fans will vote on the best idea. Film Roman will then animate the winning bit for the season finale.
