Whedon Reshooting ‘Dollhouse’ Pilot

Joss Whedon has decided to shoot a new pilot episode for his Fox drama “Dollhouse.”

In a post to the fan Web site Whedonesque.com, Mr. Whedon said that, while he’s happy with how the original pilot turned out, it wasn’t the perfect template to introduce viewers to his concept.

“I’m very proud of the ep we shot and the series is making me crazy with the excitement,” Mr. Whedon wrote. “But I tend to come at things sideways, and there were a few clarity issues for some viewers. There were also some slight issues with tone. I was in a dark, noir kind of place (where, as many of you know, I make my home), and didn’t bring the visceral pop the network had expected from the script. The network was cool about it, but not sure how to come out of the gate with the ep.”

Because of the changes, Mr. Whedon has decided not to screen scenes from the “Dollhouse” pilot later this week at Comic-Con as originally planned. He still is scheduled to meet with TV critics Tuesday afternoon on the Fox lot.

Mr. Whedon said the decision to shoot a new first episode was entirely his own and said he’s not simply being “a good soldier” by making changes.

“The network truly gets the premise (this is a whole new crew, as you know), loves the cast, is excited about the show,” he wrote. “But they’re also specific about how they want to bring people to the show and I not only respect that, I kinda have to slap my forehead that I didn’t tailor my tone and structure to the network’s needs, since that’s something I pride myself on.”

it may indeed be a "whole new crew", but it's still fox. i wonder if they'll show the ep's in some weird, nonsensical order, if they'll bother promoting the show, if they'll pre-empt regularly for their latest 'reality' hit, or if they'll even show all the episodes that got shot. like that other show they fubar'd a few years back.
fire...something i think it was called. ;)

Guess what, scrawny, pimple-faced SF geek fanboi. The majority of the American public doesn't want to watch your stupid SF crap. The only reason "Buffy" was considered a "hit" was because it wasn't on a real network. Majority rule, minority lose--that's how we do things in the USA. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

And if you're so smart, how about using proper spelling, capitalization, punctuation, grammar and usage--or are you too busy wacking off to Eliza Dushku photos? Get out of your parents' basement, get a job and GET A LIFE!

Joss Whedon has kept me entertained for over a decade.I am more than willing to look at anything he creates - at least once. As I once told my 8 year old nephew when he asked me to take him to some kid's movie: "Josh, it would be a boring world if a 55 yr old guy and a 8 year old kid could really enjoy the same film.

Variety is the spice of life "Mr Geek Moron Slammer" . I'm eating deep fried octopus for lunch today (aka calamari) would you like to share some, or are you going to MCDonald's for your Happy Meal?

I love it when people like Geek Moron Slammer post things like this to try and compensate for their small genetalia, then they go off and use the Microsoft or Mac products before going to see Iron Man, Indiana Jones ot Dark Knight and wonder why there are so many geeks in the world.
