CW Searching for New Wonder Woman

The CW has hired a casting director to search for the lead in a new project that will feature a Wonder Woman origin story, Deadline.com reports. The move comes in anticipation of receiving a pilot pickup for the project, “Amazon.”

The character is called Iris — not Diana — and comes from a remote country where she has spent her life as a soldier. While a leader on the battlefield, she’s inexperienced with personal relationships and has no social filters. Her character finds everything about our world new and fascinating, from skyscrapers to ice cream, the story notes.

It’s not surprising that the CW is looking toward another superhero, given its biggest hit in years has been this fall’s "Arrow," based on the DC Comics superhero Green Arrow.
