A woman who was on the “Game of Thrones” production team was mauled to death by a lion in South Africa. Variety reports that Katherine Chappell, a visual effects editor on the HBO fantasy series, died Monday. She was 29.

“Chappell was visiting Johannesburg’s Lion Park on Monday when a lion lunged through the window of her vehicle and attacked her,” Variety reports. “Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager at the Lion Park, told the Associated Press the 9-year-old lioness fatally bit Chappell in the neck after she took pictures of the animal, which was less than four feet away from the vehicle.”

The report quotes Simpson saying: “They had their windows all the way down, which is strictly against policy. The lion bit the lady through the window.”

Chappell, who had been taking part in a volunteer mission to protect African wildlife, reportedly died before paramedics arrived.

Chappell’s credits included the 2014 movies “Godzilla” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the TV series “Royal Pains.”
