A 2,000-foot broadcast tower collapsed in Wisconsin on Tuesday night, while WEAU-TV was airing "The Biggest Loser," reports TVB.com. The story says no one was hurt, but both the Eau Claire, Wis.-based TV station and 104.5 WAXX-FM were off the air following the collapse.
The structure supported both the TV station’s antenna and the radio station’s.
According to the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, the TV station returned to the airwaves Wednesday. It noted that the tower fell after a combination of ice and wind that reached 40 mph hit the structure, with one report indicating ice was as thick as 3 1/2 inches around parts of its frame.
