After lying to his wife about having tickets to "The Oprah Winfrey Show’s” final taping, a Canadian man drove to Chicago and allegedly faked his own mugging and now faces jail time for filing a false report, according to the New York Post.

Robert Spearing, 44, of Ontario allegedly filed the report to cover up his lie and so that "he would not disappoint his wife for not getting the tickets," the story says, citing a court document.

Just before showtime, Spearing claimed he had been mugged and his tickets stolen, but after cops questioned him again, he allegedly admitted it was a fabrication. About 13,000 fans received tickets to the show through a lottery on Winfrey’s website.
