Kim Kardashian and other members of the Kardashian clan are busy fending off accusations that some of the products in their fashion empire are produced in Chinese sweatshops, the New York Daily News reports.

The family has denied the claims of worker mistreatment and other accusations. Kardashian family spokeswoman Jill Fritzo said the claims are “100% not true,” the report says.

The allegations surfaced today in a Star magazine report that said Kardashian-branded and Kardashian-endorsed products are coming from sweatshops in China where workers as young as 16 are “virtually imprisoned,” the Daily News reports.

Said Fritzo, referring to the Kardashians: "They absolutely have no knowledge of this and would never condone this, which is why we checked this out when it was brought to our attention today."

The Daily News reports: “A human rights group is investigating the famous family and is particularly interested in the K-Dash by Kardashian label, the Kris Jenner Kollection sold on QVC and ShoeDazzle, Star reported.”

A spokesman for the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights said the group is investigating, although the probe is still in its early stages. The group said the Kardashians have been targeted “based on their celebrity status and import-export paperwork suggesting their factories are in regions of southern China notorious for bad working conditions,” the Daily News reports.
