Television station owner Ion Media Networks has proposed testing the cutoff of analog signals in markets such as New York and Los Angeles in advance of February’s switchover to all-digital broadcasts, Broadcasting & Cable reports. NBC Universal, which owns part of Ion, has agreed to participate in the testing of a cutoff, which was first tried in Wilmington, North Carolina, earlier this month, B&C says.
