At the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, leaders from the broadcast and cable industries pledged to set aside their differences and unite behind the cause of a smooth digital transition, Broadcasting & Cable said Wednesday. Cable stands to benefit by gaining subscribers who now watch TV over-the-air, while broadcasters need their programming to continue to reach the millions of viewers who currently use analog sets. Thus, cable, the NAB, PBS and others are spearheading an campaign to educate consumers and prepare them for the Feb. 17 switchover; they pledged to come together to create simple PSAs and provide a wealth of information to ensure a mutually beneficial transition.
