ABC Gets Extension for ‘NYPD Blue’ Appeal

The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals set a new briefing deadline in an appeal by ABC and its affiliates against the Federal Communications Commission’s $1 million-plus indecency fine for a 2003 episode of “NYPD Blue,” Broadcasting & Cable reports. The FCC ruled that the episode showed too much of a naked woman’s backside and side, which resulted in ABC paying a $1,237,500 fine in February, the newspaper says. The new briefing deadline of June 20 will give ABC and its affiliates more time to make their case, the newspaper notes.
