Former Chicago TV news anchor Ron Hunter died this week in Las Vegas, the Chicago Tribune reports. Hunter worked for Chicago’s WMAQ in the 1970s alongside Jane Pauley and Maury Povich, earning an Emmy Award for the station’s coverage of the South Side currency exchange hostage situation, the newspaper says. He also helped establish WWL-TV in New Orleans from 1967 to 1972, the newspaper notes. He was 70.
