KNBC Studio Project Protested

Jul 29, 2008  •  Post A Comment

KNBC-TV, Los Angeles’s NBC affiliate studio, is planning on building a new studio in North Hollywood dubbed Metro Studio@Lankershim, drawing an additional 1,900 motorists to an already traffic-congested area of the city, the Los Angeles Business Journal reports. Local advocates are protesting the development, even though the plans also call for $35 million in freeway modifications to help facilitate the new inflow of traffic.

  1. As somebody who grew up in North Hollywood in the 1920s, I can tell you that no matter what change has been proposed, (including the name change from Lankershim) there are always people lined up to oppose it. But the studios that have built the Valley have provided more benefits than any “congestion.”
Kudos to NBC for staying in the North Hollywood area instead of picking some remote (read cheap) location for their new studio.
