NBC’s Silverman Seeks Profits, Not Ratings

Jul 18, 2008  •  Post A Comment

NBC Entertainment Co-Chairmen Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff said they decided to focus less on programming and ratings last year and more on squeezing out additional profit from the margins, the New York Post reports. NBC Entertainment has instituted cost-cutting practices such as decreasing license fees, but Silverman denied they were mandated by parent company General Electric, the newspaper says. NBC Entertainment has increased its operating profit by 50% to more than $250 million compared with last year, but revenue for the first half of this year was flat compared with 2007, the newspaper notes.
